Panjim: Goa Forward Party (GFP) welcomed the ‘change of heart’ of the government to allow ‘home quarantine’ for repatriated Goans, be it for the seafarers or other non-resident Goans and said this was rightly demanded by all ‘niz Goemkars’.
GFP said this is a victory for all the ‘Goemkarwadi’ forces, both within and outside Goa, who brought relentless pressure upon the govt and were uncompromising with their stand that Goemkars deserved better and warranted justice in the face of step-motherly treatmentto them in contrast to the red carpet laid out for non-Goans.
Following the fulfillment of its demand for a Goa specific SOP in tune with the international and national regulations; GFP called for a systematic repatriation plan be drawn up to bring back every stranded Goan whether by sea or air. GFP demanded that the repatriated Goemkars be prioritised for testing at the port-of-entry and be accommodated in hygienic, decent facilities pending their results.
GFP further opined that the proceedings of the cabinet meeting suggested that the State Executive Committee under the Chief Secretary has sentenced the ruling “Montris and Amdars” to undergo ‘home quarantine’ for the next 14 months.’
“We learn from sources that the CS has practically decreed that there will be zero development and zero recruitment in the coming months leaving the ‘migrated minister and MLAs’ to curse their fate and rue their decision to ‘jump ship’ said GFP president Vijai Sardesai. “If the present state of things in the govt is anything to go by with the Delhi lobby practically ruling the roost and dictating terms, it would be wiser and fiscally prudent to disband the Cabinet and the Assembly and impose President’s rule and send the migrated ministers and MLAs for a permanent home quarantine,” he quipped.
