MARGAO: Following multiple public consultations with stakeholders, particularly the farming community, NGO Goyche Fudle Pilge Khatir (GFPK) submitted a detailed list of objections to the Draft Agricultural Policy to the State Agriculture Minister and Agriculture Director. GFPK President Jack Mascarenhas asked that the State government issue directions to all local governance bodies like panchayats and municipalities to conduct special gram sabhas/meetings for further deliberation involving the public regarding their suggestions for the draft agriculture policy. “The policy has to clearly establish its vision that it is intended to be land, farmer and crop centric as these are the primary components facing multiple challenges,” Mascarenhas added.
