GGEA confirms march to secretariat

PANJIM: The Goa Government Employees Union (GGEA) on Saturday confirmed the proposed morcha from Panjim to the Secretariat on December 7,

if the government fails to issue the notification for the implementation of Seventh Pay Commission recommendations before that date.
Addressing the media, GGEA President John Nazareth said that at a meet with all major associations, they assured and extended full support for their plans. “All the employees are disappointed. The government has failed to deliver on its assurances made on the seventh pay issue, he said.
The response we are getting for the morcha is phenomenal and around 50,000 to 55,000 employees are expected to take to the streets,” Nazareth said.
“If the government gives us the notification or order before December 7 we will not come on the streets. We have also issued a notice to the government that around 55,000 employees will take a morcha from Panjim to the Secretariat and asked the government prepare to take necessary steps,” he said. He added that GGEA is confident of support from the Secretariat employees.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Thursday said that the Seventh Pay Commission would be implemented by December and that procedures for its implementation have been completed and the file would be placed before the Cabinet in the coming week or the week after, following which the notification would be issued.
