PANJIM: The Goa Government Employees’ Association (GGEA) held a token dharna opposite the Captain of Ports Department on Tuesday, to demand parity in pay scales.
The GGEA in a press statement said that the demand for pay parity had cropped up, since the Government of Goa headed by the then cm Digambar Kamat had upgraded the pay scales of few selected category of employees in the year 2009.
“The Chief Minister of Goa agreed to settle the demand by July 2012. Two rounds of discussion were also held. Later GGEA made sent several written reminders to the Government to settle the demand.
During the second round of discussion held on 18th November, 2013, the Chief Minister had assured GGEA to give his decision in the matter by 10th December, but despite several attempts by GGEA to meet CM and resume discussion for settlement of the demand, nothing could materialize,” the GGEA said.
The GGEA has said that this is only the first course of action and if the government fails to act, further action will follow.
