PANJIM: The life members of the Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) on Wednesday filed a complaint with the Chief Secretary and the North Goa District Registrar against the GGEA President citing various alleged irregularities and discrepancies.
Amongst their many grievances, is the fact that the President is still running the affairs of the association even though his tenure expired on May 25, 2021.
The Registrar, Arun Shetye, who is also the Inspector General of Societies has initiated an enquiry and has sought a detailed clarification from the President following which the further course of action will be decided.
The complainants, who are also the elected working committee members of the said association, have alleged that the President took financial and major policy decisions, conducted alleged illegal meetings, allegedly misused letter heads, funds, property of the association and mismanaged the affairs of the association, without having powers to do so.
They accused him of deceiving the life members of the association by gross violation of the constitution of the association.
In the notice sent by the Registrar to the President, it was pointed out that procedures laid down in the Rules and Regulations as laid down in the Registration of the said association were not followed.
The actions and findings of the Registrar will be conveyed to the Chief Secretary.
It was also pointed out that the members of the Canacona Community Health Centre, Employees Co-operative Credit Society Ltd, in its annual general body meeting, took a resolution to prevent the GGEA President from contesting the election of the committee/board of directors in the future.
