The Goa Government Employees’ Association(GGEA) has appealed to all those under it to respond strongly to its resolve to strike work indefinitely from August 2, to express their resentment over the government’s failure to upgrade pay scales of several left out category of employees.
At a joint meeting of various taluka committees and the working committee of GGEA on Sunday morning it was unanimously resolved to strike work indefinitely over the government’s delay tactics in upgrading the payscales of the left out employees.
A press release issued here later in the day stated the strike will be observed in a phased manner and the first phase would be a pen-down, tool-down commencing from August 2 onwards.
The chairmen and office bearers of various taluka committees and the members of the working committee have decided to hold meetings in every taluka to garner support for the strike.
The press release observed the taluka committee members informed the meeting discontent was brewing amongst employees over the failure of the government to upgrade the pay scales.
The meeting today resolved the strike will not be called off until the government issues the necessary order upgrading payscales of all those left out.
GGEA has some 20,000 government employees registered under it.
