PANJIM: Activist Rajan Ghate, who ended his 11-day hunger strike on Tuesday, said that his agitation for “restoration of governance” will continue after his health parameters normalise.
Addressing the media after being discharged from GMC, Ghate, accompanied by his wife and close friends, requested Goans to take forward his agitation.
“My request for Goans is to take the agitation for restoration of governance forward. What is going on is not democracy but dictatorship and I condemn this.”
Ghate said he had given seven days notice before sitting on hunger strike and thereafter he was at Azad Maidan for 11 days but nobody from the government talked or saw him.
“Chief Minister should himself hand over portfolios to other ministers and appoint an interim leader to run the administration. Nobody knows what the current condition of the CM is,” he said.
About the 11-day agitation, Ghate said, “I have won this battle. I have been able to wake up Goans and show them the reality. Now they understand that the agitation was not of one individual but of all 15 lakh Goans.”
He added, “Slowly people have begun to understand what I wanted to convey. Whenever required I will again sit on hunger strike. This government is insensitive. Not concerned of the common man.”
Criticising the BJP, he said, the chief minister is only of the BJP and not for Goans. “I also have a word of advice for Vinay Tendulkar, he must change his attitude and language,” he said.
Hitting out at Governor Mridula Sinha, he charged that the Governor has remained a mute spectator to all the illegalities. “Governor is acting like a BJP karyakarta not doing anything. Does she not know what is happening? She is drawing a salary from the exchequer,” he said.
