MARGAO: The two Ghode Modni folk dances took the first two spots in the folk dance category at the Shigmo float parade held at Margao on Sunday and which ended well past midnight.
The first prize of Rs 25,000 in the folk dance category was bagged by Saraswati Kala Mandir for their Ghode Modni, while the same dance performed by Sidhivinayak Mahalsa was judged as second best and won Rs 20,000. Savaiveredo Sakya Hari’s Dhangar Nritya took the third place of Rs 15,000.
In the Chitrarath category the first prize (Rs 60,000), second prize (Rs 50,000) and third prize (Rs 40,000) went to Shree Shantadurga Mahadev Pratisthan, Adpai Yuvak Santh and Dev Bodgeshwar Kala Mandal respectively.
The first consolation prize of Rs 30,000 was bagged by Kumbarjua Nagrik Samiti, while the second consolation prize of Rs. 20,000 went to Mahalxmi Nagrik Samiti and the third consolation prize of Rs 15,000 was awarded to Bhagwati Kala Sangh, Dhavli.
In the Romtamell category Kudchade Kakoda Shigmotsav Samiti, Mandaleshwar Mandguru Shigmotsav from Shiroda and Suyog Shigmotsav Mandal from Adpai, won the first (Rs 60,000), second (Rs 40,000), and third place (Rs 25,000)respectively.
The fourth prize of Rs 15,000 went to Borim Shigmotsav Samiti, while the fifth place of Rs 10,000 was bagged by Swarsai Shigmotsav Mandal from Mapusa.
