Residents of Ghogol in Margao recently met Damu Naik, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party – Goa, and submitted a memorandum highlighting serious concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in their locality.
The delegation demanded the immediate reopening of the Masjid and sought stringent action in connection with the murder of Ali Khan. They also urged the authorities to initiate tadipar (externment) proceedings against Mehboob Makandar and Altaf Sayed, alleging their involvement in the case and intimidation of witnesses.
Residents further called for detailed disclosure regarding the accused and questioned whether any political figures had allegedly assisted or supported them either before or after the murder. They stressed the need for a comprehensive, impartial and time-bound inquiry into all aspects of the case.
The memorandum also appealed to the government to ensure a fair and transparent investigation, provide adequate protection to witnesses, and take effective steps to maintain peace and communal harmony in the area.
