Panjim: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has issued notice to the Public Works Department (PWD) in connection with reports on the alleged corroded water distribution lines in Margao.
The commission member A D Salkar, taking suo motu cognizance of a new report on Friday issued the notices to the Chief Engineer (PWD) and Executive Engineer, Water Department IX (PWD) seeking a reply by March 15, 2019.
There had been complaints that the age-old underground water distribution lines are corroded, risking the health of several thousand consumers living in Pajifond, Margao. The matter came to light when plumbers dug underground water line to it to the PVC coated line and found the pipes were corroded.
