PANJIM: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has asked the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP) to file their comments on the report and the action taken or proposed to be taken to provide proper amenities at the Old Goa Police Station, on or before August 23.

Social activist Adv Aires Rodrigues had sought the intervention of the GHRC over the lack of proper amenities and poor working conditions at the Old Goa Police Station and had sought that the Chief Secretary and the DGP be directed to explain why no measures have been taken to improve the state of affairs at the Old Goa Police Station in terms of providing spacious premises and proper amenities as instructed by the GHRC in its inquiry report dated December 21, 2017.

Following complaint by Adv Rodrigues in 2016, the officials of the GHRC inspected the Old Goa Police Station and that in its inquiry report on December 21, 2017, the GHRC had pointed out seven shortcomings while directing the authorities to take steps to improve the working conditions at the police station.
