PANJIM: A team of Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) will on Monday inspect the Ribandar roads, the work of which has allegedly been left incomplete by the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL).
The inspection is scheduled at 11 am. Acting GHRC Chairman A D Salkar on June 24 had directed the GHRC Secretary along with its police investigative team to inspect the roads in Ribandar and submit its report within seven days. The inspection was earlier scheduled on June 27 but it was postponed to July 1 owing to incessant rains.
The directions were issued on the complaint filed by Adv Aires Rodrigues that the Human Rights of the residents of Ribandar were grossly violated by the rank inaction of the authorities to the alarming state of the Ribandar roads, which were dug up more than a month ago by the IPSCDL.
Rodrigues submitted to the GHRC that if there had been proper co-ordination between the IPSCDL and the PWD as well as BSNL, the inconvenience caused to residents of Ribandar, who were left without water supply and telephone services for almost a month, could have been avoided.
