PANJIM: Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has identified nearly 90 new industrial plots measuring 2.13 lakh sq mts in nine industrial estates, for setting up of environmental-friendly units. The base price per plot has been fixed between Rs 625 per sq mt and Rs 2200 per sq mt.
With the Investment Promotion Board (IPB) approving in principle projects worth Rs 4,000-odd crore over the last year, GIDC was asked to identify land for the new projects. These plots include new as well as those lying vacant for years and taken over by GIDC. A total of 17 unutilised plots have been taken over by IDC.
As per information available with GIDC, 52 plots have been identified in two new industrial estates – Sanguem (23) and Panchwadi (29) – with a total area of 1.52 lakh sq mts. Apart from this, it has identified 20 plots in Kundaim Industrial Estate with a total area of 18,969 sq mts, followed by six in Pissurlem with a total area of 22,358 sq mts area and four in Kakoda industrial estate covering 4000 sq mts.
Two plots each have been identified in the industrial estates of Canacona, Tuem, Verna and Cuncolim with a total area of 15,780 sq mts.
GIDC has also identified 80 unutilised industrial plots, allotted to 60 units, lying vacant since 2012. The plots are located in the industrial estates of Bicholim, Cuncolim, Kakoda, Kundaim, Margao and Verna.
As per the State government’s plot transfer regulations, it is mandatory for the plot allottee to utilise 30 per cent of the area and carry out certain portion of production activities, before putting up papers for transfer.
Presently, there are 22 industrial estates across the State, while setting up of three more industrial estates is in progress.
