GIDC receives 179 applications for setting up units

PANJIM: The Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has received as many as 179 applications for setting up small and micro-industrial units at its nine industrial estates.

PANJIM: The Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has received as many as 179 applications for setting up small and micro-industrial units at its nine industrial estates. 
The GIDC had in November, last year identified 90 new industrial plots admeasuring 2.13 lakh sq mtrs at the industrial estates of Verna, Kundaim, Panchwadi, Tuvem, Pissurlem, Cuncolim, Sanguem, Canacona and Kakoda, for setting up environmental friendly industrial units. Later, it advertised for sale these plots, receiving good response. 
“We have received 179 applications for setting up new units at the identified plots. The applications would now be scrutinized by the Board,” a senior official said.
The base price for per plot is fixed between Rs 625 per sq mtrs to Rs 2200 per sq mtrs. 
The units that could come up include manufacturing units, pharma, food and beverages, ice and cold storage, automobile services, fabrication, sponge iron, warehousing, etc. 
The highest number of 81 applications has come for setting up units at Kundaim industrial estate, where at present only 20 plots are available. This is followed by Panchwadi (23) and Pissurlem (20), where 52 plots are identified for sale.
GIDC has received 18 applications for Verna, 16 in Tuvem, 12 in Cuncolim, four in Sanguem, three in Canacona and two for Kakoda. 
GIDC has identified total 80 unutilized industrial plots, allotted to 60 units, lying vacant since 2012. Of these 17 plots are been taken over by the Corporation.
As per the State government’s plot transfer regulations, it is mandatory for the plot allottee to utilize 30 percent of the plot along with carrying out certain portion of production activities, before putting up papers for transfer.
