Girish demands restoration of governance in State

PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar said Congress would continue its agitation demanding restoration of governance in the State. He held a one-day token satyagraha at Azad Maidan, Panjim, demanding this.
Addressing media persons, Chodankar said there were several issues before the government which need urgent attention. “Activist Rajan Ghate was on hunger strike for 11 days and nobody from the administration even bothered to talk to him,” Chodankar said, adding, “This is a State wherein the government just does not care about the common man.”
Chodankar said the lives of Ghate, as well as of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, are important to the people of Goa. “We want Parrikar to take rest and hand over charge to someone else. His health now demands rest. We are worried somebody is running the government through the backdoor,” he charged.
He said Congress will hold a rally at Lohia Maidan in Margao which will kick-start a taluka-wise agitation.
Ghate was on fast unto death in Panjim demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and was admitted to GMC Monday evening after his health deteriorated. He was on fast at Azad Maidan demanding Parrikar’s resignation due to his ill-health.
