Girish, Nandini elected Sancoale sarpanch, deputy

New team promises transparency and corruption free governance; Plans to install CCTV to prevent malpractices

VASCO:  Girish Pillai was elected Sancoale sarpanch unopposed on Saturday, while Nandini Desai was declared elected deputy sarpanch also unopposed.
Except for Panch Tulsidas Naik (absent on health grounds), all other ten panchas were present for the election.
As the young team of panchas took over the reins of Sancoale panchayat, the newly elected Sarpanch Girish Pillai promised transparency and corruption free governance. 
He said that his first priority would be to bring panchayat operations under electronic/CCTV surveillance to prevent any malpractice.
“With regards to our priorities, we have decided to fulfill all the promises made to the villagers with the help and support of our MLA and our Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar including the much awaited rehabilitation of Zuarinagar slums,” Pillai said.  
He assured the villagers that the new team would provide transparent and corruption free governance. For this purpose, he said, “We have decided to bring Panchayat operations under electronic/CCTV surveillance.” 
“Similarly, we have decided to focus on maintaining cleanliness across Sancoale village and to make our village open defecation and garbage free by January 26, 2018. For this, we along with the MLA, will ask the government to allocate us some special funds and other required help,” he said.
Pillai said that he wishes to come out with a village master plan in the next 90 days for a holistic development of the village, which would factor the needs of the village for next 20 years. He said the plan would be implemented in a phased manner.  
He also promised proper toilet facilities for all and good medical facilities in the village, especially at the thickly populated Zuarinagar slums.
“With the help of our MLA, we will peruse to fulfill the long pending demand for full-fledged police station at Zuarinagar and to see to it that the dream of a new panchayat ghar becomes reality,” he added.
Deputy Sarpanch Nandini Desai said, “This panchayat will be people friendly and we will work overtime to ensure that people get services on time. Since I belong to the legal fraternity, I will ensure that all rules are followed; no corrupt practices will be tolerated. We only need support of the people and collectively we will work for the betterment of village.”
