PANJIM: Congress’ Panjim candidate for the by-polls, Girish Chodankar, has appealed to the voters to accept him as a candidate just as they accepted Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate for 23 years.
In an appeal made on Monday, Chodankar said, “One question may arise in your mind, of why you should vote for me when I am not from Panjim, but so is the BJP candidate”.
He said that performers have no boundaries and he had worked at the national level for the Congress and delivered sincerely all the work entrusted to him.
He said his strength is his character and lies in his loyalty to the party and the liberal ideals it stands for.
“I am contesting to provide the voters of Panjim the opportunity to express themselves without fear against the dictatorial, arrogant, anti-democratic and anti-Goan working of the Chief Minister who now wants your endorsement as MLA,” his appeal states.
The appeal was released in Congress House on Monday in the presence of GPPC Chief Shantaram Naik, Leader of the Opposition Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar, MLAs Digambar Kamat, Luizinho Faleiro, Nilkanth Halarnkar and others.
