PANJIM: Terming the act of BJP to split their 10 MLAs as “unethical”, Congress President Girish Chodankar charged that saffron party is not attempting to have “One Nation One Election” but “One Nation One Party”.
In a statement, Chodankar alleged that Congress MLAs have changed the side falling prey to the blackmailing and other luring tactics adopted by BJP by taking advantage of their weaknesses.
“Is this the new India that the BJP advocating after the Lok Sabha election,” he questioned. “BJP has exposed its intense insecurity with its coalition partner and within its camp by inducting 10 Congress MLAs in their camp,” Chodankar said.
He said that despite having clear numbers on the floor of the House, BJP Chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s such unethical act has displayed his fear to face the united opposition for the upcoming Assembly session.
“The entire episode reflects the utter misuse of power adopted by BJP which is full of arrogance and was finding itself on a sticky wicket after certain MLAs within its camp were unhappy with the government,” Chodankar said.
Chodankar said that the development is also a lesson to its alliance partners who went against mandate of people in 2017 and installed BJP in power.
“It is time for Congress to go back to the grassroot level and expose the BJP. The move of 10 MLAs switching sides will not augur well with the electorate who will defeat the BJP and its cronies once again, repeating the performance of 2017,” he said.
