PONDA: In a strange incident, an18-year-old girl was shell-shocked after she was allegedly attacked and injured by one bike rider Omkar Dhananjay Kavlekar (25) at Kapileshwarim-Kavlem bus stop, where she was waiting for a bus, for refusing an offer for lift.
“On this incident, a case has been registered against Omkar, resident of Varbhat-Kavlem for outraging modesty of a woman and injuring her under Section 354 and 323. However, the accused is untraceable and not arrested yet,” informed Ponda Police Station PSI Paresh Sinhari.
The bus stop is located at the main road, around 100 metres distance away from her house.
The parents said, “Their daughter was standing at Kapileshwarim bus stop waiting for bus to proceed towards her workplace at 3 pm on Thursday. Suddenly, the alleged accused came on the bike and stopped in front of her and offered lift to proceed towards Ponda. However, the girl refused his offer.”
“She later started walking towards the house so that the brother could drop her at Ponda. However, before she could reach the house, the boy chased her at internal road, parked his bike, went towards the girl, caught her hair and threw her on the ground due to which she suffered injuries on the head. The girl has been admitted at Ponda Sub District Hospital and undergoing treatment since Thursday,” they said.
The accused boy’s family tried to compromise the case. However, the victim’s family sought thorough probe and justice into the incident.
