Girl commits suicide due to stress of exams

PONDA: Ponda Police registered a suspected case of girl committing suicide due to exam stress. 

According to police they received phone call from police constable attached at Ponda Sub-District Hospital saying that Naziya Khurhid Shaikh, (18), resident of Bondbag-Bethoda, Ponda was brought as a case of suicide by jumping from the 4th floor of a building near Nakteshwar Hall, Ponda.

Enquiry conducted by PSI Nitesh Kankonkar revealed that the deceased was suffering from depression. The girl had attempted suicide five days prior to this incident by cutting her left hand. She was studying in a college at Farmagudi in Class 11. 

She committed suicide by jumping off from the fourth floor of an apartment, near Vithoba temple. 

The deceased resided at Bondbag Betoda and she had come to her uncle’s place. Further enquiry is in progress.
