Give befitting reply to BJP, MGP & GVP alliance: Cong

PANJIM: After refusing to field candidates under the party symbol for the March 18 Zilla Panchayat elections, which for the first time are being held on party lines, the Congress on Wednesday appealed to voters to give a ‘befitting’ reply to the BJP-MGP-GVP alliance for fooling the people of Goa during the past three years with empty promises.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, which is backing several independent candidates, has urged people to vote for candidates having Congress ideology. Addressing media persons, GPCC general secretary Yatish Naik said that the ZP elections is the right time for the people to give a befitting reply to ruling alliance for its U-turns and false promises. “The three-year governance of BJP-MGP government is before the people. We are confident that people will show BJP its real place,” he said.
“We are making an honest and earnest appeal to the people of Goa to see the agenda unleashed by BJP in the State and at the Centre. Also, see how their policies and programmes are hurdles in the progress of this State and the country at large,” Naik said. He said that the party held a series of meetings with stakeholders such as ZP members, gram sabha members and social organizations.
