MARGAO: The Leader of the Opposition Digamba Kamat has demanded that the Above Poverty Line (APL) cardholders be given free ration.
In a communiqué sent to Civil Supplies Minister Govind Gawade, Kamat said that the government should give free ration to APL holders, as they fall outside the scheme of the National Food Security Act.
“The lockdown to contain the spread of the dreadful coronavirus has shut down several businesses across the State and country, too. There is a serious problem of employment and the expense chart of the people has completely failed. The government needs to reach out with help to these APL cardholders who are in trouble,” Kamat said.
