Vasco: The Minister for Transport Mauvin Godinho emphasized the need of including road safety as part of the school curriculum. He highlighted how Goa had observed the National Traffic Safety Day on January 14 and that the aim was to create awareness amongst the people on the Motor Vehicle Rules.
“There is a need to have discipline in life and it could be put to practice only at a young age and therefore it is essential to have at least one period in schools on traffic signals and also about the motor vehicle rules as well as basic act of the India Constitution”. He further mentioned that the new Central MV rules will be strictly implemented all over the State shortly, which will certainly help in reducing accidents and also help in bringing discipline among the vehicular riders.
He also stressed the need that students follow the acts of Indian Constitution in order to make fundamental India and Goa very strong, making them strong citizens with good moral character.
The Minister was chairing an annual concert and felicitation function as a chief guest organized by Government High School Vaddem Nagar at Ravindra Bhavan, Baina.
Godinho complimented the headmistress and staff of the school for taking extra efforts in improving the standard of students. He however has opined that Government Schools in the State are running in more difficulties since they don’t have resources available with them.
