At a press briefing in Bicholim, GJRM president Santosh Chari urged the government to provide all basic amenities to cow owners and claimed it would result in pure milk for the people and solve the problem of unemployment.
Dairy farmer Ashok Sawaikar said nobody was ready to undertake this profession as they lacked basic amenities. He called on the government to help out dairy farmers in Goa.
Noted cattle-behaviour expert Macchidra Chari said packet milk is adulterated and harmful to health, while Sanquelim municipal councillor Rashmi Desai said the government should mandate registration of cattle to know their exact number.
Dairy farmer Ramapati Pitre said the ‘Panchagavya’ (a composition of five elements derived from cow milk) is useful for treating all kinds of disease.
