PANJIM: The Goa Human Rights Commission on Thursday took suo motu cognisance of a news item published by a local daily regarding non-payment of salary to COVID-19 workers hired by the government during the second wave of Coronavirus.
While taking suo motu cognisance of the news item, the three-member Commission was of the view that prima facie there is violation of human rights and issues notices to the Director (Administration) of Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim and the Director of Accounts.
Both the respondents have been asked to inquire into the matter and submit their report and to remain present before the Commission for the hearing on October 18.
