PANJIM: Lashing out at the Pramod Sawant government, social activist Shailendra Velingkar, son of veteran RSS functional Subhash Velingkar, on Monday said “unimaginable” level of corruption is going on in Goa BJP.
“The kind of corruption going on in Goa BJP is unimaginable,” said Velingkar, citing the example of the alleged GMC job scam.
Terming the GMC job scam as “one of the biggest government job recruitment scams ever in the state of Goa”, the activist said, “The GMC job scam was a revelation. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane is completely uncontrollable and the proof is that he has even superseded Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s intervention.”
Velingkar has held Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, GMC Dean Dr. Bandekar, GMC Director of Administration, Dattaram Sardesai, and recruitment chief of GMC –Kalia Gaunkar as being responsible for the scam.
He said Kalia along with certain recruitment staff corrected the paper and made the hasty appointments. Incidentally, he pointed out that Kalia has been retained after retirement, since last December.
He declared that he had already consulted a lawyer and would soon approach the court.
He said GMC Dean and primarily GMC Director of Administration, Dattaram Sardesai fraudulently issued appointment letters at the behest of Vishwajit Rane. Appointment letters to 1371 posts were issued under the direction of the health minister, Velingkar alleged, saying he has complete documentary proof.
He also warned people of Sattari regarding the so called employment dished out to them by Vishwajit Rane. He told people from Sattari who have been given unconstitutional and unlawful appointment letters, that they have been fooled.
The activist added he would approach the court and if 1371 people from Sattari lose their jobs, then only Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane will be responsible.
Firing on all cylinders, he alleged, “BJP has become the worst ever political unit and the worst govt ever. The party has seen value erosion, lack of a scientific way of working of a cadre-based party and power itself has become its purpose for the BJP”. 90% of Congress has been imported into BJP and they are claiming it as cadre-based party. When a party meant for a certain mission turns into a party of candidates for power, it will simply collapse, he added.
Asked for a solution to this malaise of corruption in job recruitments across departments, Velingkar recommended that, “all appointments should be rooted through Goa Public Service Commission”. He also cautioned that the right kind of people should be appointed to the GPSC.
He recalled that then CM Manohar Parrikar had smartly put a cap on government employment, sensing the same dangers we are facing today. But some people from the same party (are doing this). It shows complete degradation (of the party). BJP has sunk so badly that they have murdered their own principles.
“BJP should stand decimated due to the kind of corruption in every dept. Every parameter of employing is compromised. The GPSC should be empowered more and political interference has to be stopped,” he said.
He warned of legal steps in consultation with lawyers to ensure that all recruitments done at GMC will be scrapped since they are “unlawful and unconstitutional”.
