PANJIM: Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has formed a three-member panel to inquire into a complaint by the father of teen Siddhi Naik, whose partially unclothed body was found washed ashore at Calangute beach last month.

GMCH Dean S Bandekar has appointed Head of Pathology Department Prof Dr Wiseman Pinto, Head of OBG Department Prof Dr Guruprasad Pednekar and Prof of Forensic Medicine Dr A V Fernandes to inquire into the complaint.

The deceased’s father Sudhir had approached the Calangute police on Thursday with a complaint suspecting foul play citing his observations are based on his daughter’s post mortem report and upon verifying her photos which went viral on social media.

“The post mortem revealed that Siddhi’s stomach was empty which means that there was no presence of water in her. However, sand particles were found beyond the vocal cord, which indicate that Siddhi was not drowned in deep sea waters or else she would have gulped down the water as she did not know to swim”, an extract of his complaint copy says.

“The post mortem report mentions three bruises on Siddhi’s body. It is mentioned that these bruises were superficial and not deep. Also, these are not scratches otherwise the report would have stated that they were caused to a person accidently by hitting the rocks while drowning,” the copy adds.

The committee was formed after Calangute PI Nolasco Raposo wrote to GMC Dean to form a Medical Board committee and review the post mortem and investigation report.

On Friday, Calangute PI Nolasco Raposo had written to the GMC Dean requesting the constitution of a medical board to review the case. As the father of the girl had pointed out that blood clots (PM lividity) typically of drowning had formed on the back in supine position, whereas in typical drowning cases such clots are found on the front of the chest.

He had further requested to give their say on the claims made by Siddhi’s father on the post-mortem report.
