GMC told to issue disability certificates without barred expression

The Commission has also recommended that the disability certificate dated February 19, 2021, be re-issued to the complainant without the barred expression within 30 days from the date of the order.

PANJIM: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC), Panjim has recommended to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) Dean and the Medial Superintendent to withdraw old forms and to issue disability certificates without the barred expression. 

The Commission has also recommended that the disability certificate dated February 19, 2021, be re-issued to the complainant without the barred expression within 30 days from the date of the order.

Under Section 18 (e) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, the Commission will send a copy of the inquiry report together with its recommendations to the concerned government or authority and they shall within a period of one month or such further time as the Commission may allow, forward its comments on the report, including the action taken or proposed to be taken to the Commission. 

Also, a copy of the inquiry report will be sent to both the GMC respondents for their comments including the action taken or proposed to be taken within a period of 30 days or on or before August 25 in terms of Section 18 (e) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.

Vishant Nagvekar of Altinho, Panjim had on January 3, this year, complained to the Commission about a faulty disability certificate issued to him and using barred expressions for addressing persons with disabilities.
