GMEA has queries on bio-metric scanners

The Goa Municipal Employees Association on Tuesday said it will seek queries on certain aspects of the bio-metric finger scan readers, even as the association has agreed to use the finger scan readers for recording of attendance.

MARGAO: The Goa Municipal Employees Association on Tuesday said it will seek queries on certain aspects of the bio-metric finger scan readers, even as the association has agreed to use the finger scan readers for recording of attendance.

Association leader Anil Shirodkar said employees have per se accepted the decision of the civic body to make bio metric readers functional. He however said the municipality has not addressed the issues raised by the association via a written memorandum submitted to the civic body for redressal.

“The Employees Association is ready to use the bio-metric finger scan readers. But we want the civic body to clarify on certain points, including the fate of peons and drivers putting in extra hours every day and workers working on the field”, Shirodkar told Herald.

He pointed out that the circular issued by the outgoing Chief Officer Sandhya Kamat has not touched on the points and clarifications sought by the Employees Association, adding that the association will seek replies from the new Chief Officer in a day or two.

Outgoing Chief Officer Sandhya Kamat had on Monday issued a circular to municipal employees making it mandatory for office staff to use the bio-metric finger scan readers from April 16.
