GMPF chief for closure of case filed against mining dependents

PANJIM: President of Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF) Puti Gaonkar, who recently announced that he plans to contest from the Chief Minister’s constituency of Sanquelim, has demanded for the immediate closure of the case filed against mining dependents for a past protest against the government.

Stating that the chargesheet filed against such protestors be withdrawn, Gaonkar while addressing the media persons on Thursday alleged that the case was filed only to harass the persons who are strong opponents of the BJP.

Gaonkar pointed out that the name of Sandeep Pawaskar – brother of present PWD Minister Deepak Pawaskar and names of others who are strong supporters of BJP are not in the chargesheet.

“If my name is included only for attending the morcha, then the names of Minister Nilesh Cabral and many BJP sarpanchas who have participated in that morcha should also have been included,” Gaonkar said.

He reiterated that the chargesheet has been filed with a vindictive approach against those who are working against BJP.

Besides himself, he gave the names of others like Balaji Gawas, Dharmesh Saglani amongst many others who Gaonkar said are being targeted through this case given their anti-BJP stance.
