The Gomantak Mazdoor Sangh (GMS) has moved High Court complaining of huge pendency of cases in Industrial Tribunal and Labour Court which it said has resulted as no presiding officer has been appointed since the post fell vacant in February this year.
No appointment has been made since the time presiding officer Anuja Prabhudessai was suspended earlier this year, complaint the petitioner Puti Gaonkar, General Secretary, GMS. Some of the cases pending dates back to 1996, he pointed out in the petition.
When the matter came up for hearing before a Division Bench of Justice A S Oka and Justice F M Reis, on Wednesday morning, the bench directed Advocate General Subodh Kantak to ascertain the actual number of pending cases before the Tribunal.
However, Advocate General told the court that he would place correct figures on the next date of hearing which was fixed after two weeks.
