PANJIM: The Goa Natural Gas (P) Ltd (GNGPL) is making efforts for expanding its network to supply piped natural gas (PNG) to more domestic customers, manufacturing units and commercial establishments in the North Goa District and Ponda in near future.
GNGPL Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Zafar Khan said that the company has more than 10,000 registered domestic PNG customers out of which around 2,800 customers are using PNG even as over 2,500 customers availed the three-month free gas scheme. The company has extended the scheme by one-year for those who had not started piped gas but had installed meters by October 31, last year.
Khan said that the company has laid infrastructure for gas pipeline of more than 175-km network in the State covering industrial areas as it caters to supply of PNG to domestic households, commercial set ups, industrial customers and also CNG for vehicles.
In order to encourage more customers to take piped gas, the company has now announced scheme for restaurants and commercial establishments with an option to pay security deposit on EMI basis with a monthly billing cycle instead of paying the entire amount upfront to ease of the financial burden. Presently, it is supplying PNG to 15 commercial establishments and over 18 industries.
In order to promote the use of CNG in the State, the company has launched the ‘Goa Drives Green Campaign’, which will end on October 31, wherein monetary benefit will be provided depending upon the make and model of the vehicle to everyone purchasing a new CNG vehicle or converting their vehicles to CNG during the scheme validity period. The company has six CNG stations and plans to open four more stations in the State.
