MARGAO: Tightening the screws on the absconding builders, Special Judge, Margao, Nutan Sardesai hearing the Canacona building collapse case has granted permission to the crime branch to attach the 12 landed properties owned by Bharat Developers in Goa.
The investigating agency is now bracing up to approach the special court early next week to seek permission to attach the properties in the name of the two new directors of Bharat Developers as investigations have brought to light that the two absconding builders have transferred a couple of properties in their name.
Armed with the court’s permission, the crime branch will seal the shops and business premises and notify the state registrar and sub-registrar not to register any documents concerning the 12 properties. Records revealed that most of these properties, located in and around Canacona taluka, were purchased by the builders since the year 2007.  While the value of the 12 properties is pegged around Rs 3-4 crore, the market value runs into crores of rupees, in the region of  Rs 25-30 crores.
