Goa Assembly session from today

PANJIM: With the upcoming Assembly elections tentatively due in February 2022, the last assembly session of the current term of the BJP government will commence on Monday. For the two-day session, the Legislature Department has received 77 starred and 221 unstarred questions. Three government bills will be introduced for consideration and passing. There won’t be a Private Members’ Day due to a short session.

On Day-1 of the session, the Assembly is expected to take up for discussion three postponed starred questions moved by the Opposition on the status of coal block, comunidade land cases and projects undertaken by the Water Resources Department, besides other starred and unstarred questions.

The controversial Goa Bhumiputra Bill will not be re-introduced in the current session. The government, following criticism, decided to let the Bill lapse rather than revive the legislation that was hurriedly passed by the State Assembly in July this year.
