PANJIM: In a fresh initiative to educate students on different financial aspects, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) in collaboration with National Stock Exchange (NSE), Mumbai will introduce a module on Financial Literacy on Friday. The three month course for Class XI students from November to January will have an online examination at the end.
GBSHSE Secretary Shivakumar Jangam said the additional programme for students is essentially to create awareness on the crucial subject.
“The course will cover all four streams – Science, Commerce, Arts and Vocational. They will be taught financial management, investment avenues, expenditure, and primary knowledge on the share markets amongst related issues,” he told Herald.
The NSE has prepared the syllabus for the students while the printed course material will be provided by the Board.
In the beginning, teachers will be trained in batches, who will then teach the students. As per the plan, the North Goa higher secondary teachers will undergo classes on November 2 and 3, followed by teachers from South Goa on November 4-5.
“One teacher for every 30 students will be trained by NSE experts for two days. The training workshop will be considered as on duty. Post-Diwali, the students will be taught these subjects as per the module developed by NSE. Their regular classes will not be affected,” Jangam said
The course will be of 25 hours duration and will be conducted in various higher secondary schools.
