PANJIM: With the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) mulls over reverting to pre-COVID full-fledged syllabus for Class IX to XII, the two public examination formats for Class X and XII Board will continue even for the 2022-23 academic year.

In a circular issued to the heads of higher secondary schools under Goa Board jurisdiction, Secretary Geraldina Mendes has said that the syllabus for Classes IX to XII for the academic year 2022-23 will be entire as in force prior to curtailment for the academic term 2020-21 and 2021-22.

In view of first wave of COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Board had curtailed academic syllabus to the extent of 28 per cent to 30 per cent in the major subjects. The same continued for 2021-22 term.

Further, the Board has said that after taking feedback from the stakeholders, the “Special Scheme of Assessment” — will continue to be adopted for the upcoming academic term 2022-23, where Class X and XII Board exams will be held in two parts.

As per the scheme, the public examinations will be conducted in two parts or terms — one ending in November-December and another in March-April, with three periodic tests of which the third one is of creative one beside practical work and other activities.

The schools have to undertake internal assessments of students of Class X and XII throughout the academic year and have to retain the evidence in digital format.

With full-fledged syllabus coming into force, the Board has said that a revised format with weightage to the content in subject and syllabus for the first term and second term will slightly vary and same would be declared shortly.
