PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has tentatively decided to declare Class X board result, based on internal assessment conducted by the schools, on July 10.
The Academic Council meeting of the Goa Board held on May 27 has approved a draft scheme for ‘Tabulation of Marks for Class X Board Examination 2021’, the government approval for which is awaited.
As per the draft scheme, the GBSHSE proposes to declare the Class X results on July 10. The schools will have to submit the internal assessment marks of the students to the Board by June 25.
The students will be assessed out of maximum 100 marks for each subject. As per the policy of the Board, 20 marks are for Internal Assessment and 80 marks are for Board Examinations.
The assessment of 80 marks will be done by the schools based on the marks scored by the candidate in the different tests or exams conducted by the school during the academic year and that the marks should be in consonance with the past performance of the school in Class X Board examinations.
The schools conduct unit test, mid-yearly exams and preliminary examination for Class X, before the public exams are scheduled.
Nearly 24,900 students were due to answer their Board exams, which were scheduled from May 13 onwards, however had to be cancelled in view of the ongoing COVID pandemic.
As per the scheme, the schools will have to put in place a Result Committee by June 5, that will consisting of Principal and seven teachers- each of Mathematics, Science, Social Science, two language subject and two co-opted teachers from the neighbouring schools, under same management.
The scheme states that any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks allocated will be given an opportunity to appear in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams either conducted by the Board or concerned school.
