PANJIM: While the Goa Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education says that it is satisfied with the simultaneous conduct of classes X and XII public exams this March, it will take a final call on continuation of this system after an assessment meeting is held next month.
The public exams for classes X and XII which began from March 1 concluded Friday. However
it has sought for reports from examination conductors and supervisors which will be analyzed next month.
“We will decide then on whether we should continue conducting classes X and XII exams simultaneously from next year,” said a Goa Board official.
This is the first time after more than a decade that public exams of the Goa Board for classes X and XII were held simultaneously starting March 1.
There was some controversy over the tough Maths paper for classes X and XII and correction of papers has already begun and the Board is proposing to declare the class XII results by May 10 and class X results after May 20.
The Board is confident that it will meet the deadlines even though several teachers engaged in the examination processes are also drawn for election duty.
Goa Board officials here on Friday refused to comment on the grievances and demands made by parents over the Maths paper for classes X and XII exams.
The education department has also chosen to alienate itself from the issue even as parents attempted to add on pressure for seeking compensatory marks when they met the education minister Thursday. It appears that only students of two higher secondaries have been aggrieved. Whether other students were affected by the Maths paper is not know, leaving a question mark on the pressure exerted on the Board.
