Goa CM goes on a language and culture tour to Karnataka

Says he was ‘overwhelmed by the warmth of the people’ of Mangaluru in Karnataka; bats for more ‘connectivity’ between the two States

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant attended multiple cultural programmes in Mangaluru, Karnataka, where he travelled by train.

Sawant first unveiled the brass statue of the founder of the World Konkani Centre late Basti Vaman Shenoy and inaugurated the ‘Centre of Excellence for Empowerment of Konkani People’ a newly-built facility.

He also unveiled a portrait of former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar at Mangaluru organised by the Konkani Bhas Ani Sanskriti Prathistan at the World Konkani Centre, Mangaluru.

“I was overwhelmed by the warmth and welcome of the people,” Sawant said while extending his best wishes to the organisations for continuing great work in the development of the Konkani language.

Sawant who travelled Mangaluru by train on Wednesday and also returned by Netravati Express on early Thursday said that he will write to Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnav to introduce Vande Bharat train service between Goa and Mangaluru and to provide a Wi-Fi facility in train coaches across.
