A BJP core committee meeting was held at their state headquarters on Thursday. The ruling BJP Ministers have reacted to the merger of 8MLAs into the BJP by saying that it was not a surprise and was expected. They also argued that the merger was in the interest of the party. However, Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho openly admitted that the “Opposition is feeling the heat that no work is being done in their constituencies.” Ministers refused to comment on any Cabinet reshuffle, saying it is the prerogative of the Chief Minister.
Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho said he welcomed the joining of the 8 Congress MLAs into the BJP. However, he let the cat out of the bag by saying “no work is being done in opposition constituencies”. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the merger is in the interest of the BJP.
For the time being Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said there would be no cabinet reshuffle. However, the 8 newly joined MLAs will go to New Delhi to meet the Prime Minister and BJP National President.
