Goa College of Art to sign MoUs with several institutions

It’s part of GCA’s expansion plans wherein new advance courses will be added, such as Film Making and Digital Media; College also intends to offer MFA in Painting and Applied Art in the future

PANJIM: With a focus to expand art education with advances courses like that of Film Making, Digital Media, the Goa College of Art (GCA) will sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with several institutions on September 26.  The college also intends to offer Masters Degree courses (MFA) in Painting and Applied Art in near future. 
Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, Sir J.J Institute of Applied Art, Mumbai, Mahalasa College of Visual Art, Mangalore and Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) are the institutions with whom GCA will tie up.
“To expand the scope of art education and to encourage more and more students to take up the profession,  Goa College of Art will be signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several  institutes in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant,” the Directorate of Information and Publicity said in a press statement issued on Monday. 
The MoUs will facilitate exchange of schemes and skills between students, faculty and personnel of the respective institutions.
The college has finalised plans for further expansion by creating advanced infrastructure for subjects like film making, photography, digital media etc, the college and also plans to offer Masters Degree courses  (MFA) in Painting and Applied Art in near further.
“The MoUs will further be instrumental in facilitating teaching-learning exchange between the institutions and will help in further enhancing the quality of art education in the country. It will also enable the exposure of the students’ community to the industry. In turn, the industry will be benefit by getting a more skilled workforce in the field of art and art related industry namely advertising, publishing, film, theatre, painting, mural design, sculpture, portraiture, electronic and social media, environmental design, and other allied fields,” the govt added.
GCA is the premier and the only Art institute in the State of Goa that imparts art education up to the level of graduation. Presently it’s under the administration of Directorate of Technical Education and is affiliated to Goa University.
