Goa company bags tender to build Smart roads in Panjim

PANJIM: The Porvorim-based M/s Baghiya Constructions Private Limited has been awarded the tender to construct two Smart roads in the capital city.

The Goa State Works Board has accepted the tender above 16 per cent than the estimated tendered cost.

The Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA), who will be executing both the road works under Smart City Mission, had received two bids from M/s Baghiya Constructions Private Limited, Porvorim and another from M/s South East Constructions Private Limited, Bengaluru.

The Goa bidder had quoted 17.77 per cent and the Bengaluru company quoted 22 per cent above the estimated tender cost of Rs 106 crore respectively. 

Since t both the bidders had quoted above the estimated cost, the GSUDA referred the tender to the Goa State Works Board for appropriate decision. The Goa State Works Board later negotiated with the lowest bidder i.e. M/s Baghiya Constructions Private Limited, who had quoted Rs 124.83 crore, which was 17.77 per cent above the estimated cost and reduced it to little over 16 per cent above the estimated cost.

The Imagine Panjim Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) had approved construction of two Smart roads i.e. from the Old Patto Bridge to Four Pillars Junction and from Vivanta By Taj, St Inez Junction to Adarsh Colony, Miramar. The second road will also include construction of Smart road from Fire and Emergency Service Junction up to Bal Bhavan and road from Bashik Junction to St Inez Hindu crematorium. 

The works will also include laying of new utility services such as electrical lines, water supply, sewage, a cycle track and footpaths. The GSUDA will execute both the works on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.
