The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee and the Goa Forward Party have extended support to social activist Swapnesh Sherlekar following his detention by Goa Police at Bicholim.
Party leaders criticised the action taken against Sherlekar and accused the state government of attempting to silence voices raising public concerns. The detention had reportedly followed questioning in connection with a protest in the Bicholim area.

Goa Forward Party’s North Goa General Secretary Santosh Kumar Sawant issued a strong warning to the ruling dispensation, stating that “Goans will fight this BJP government till they are sent home.”
Opposition leaders have demanded transparency in the matter and asserted that democratic protests should not be curtailed. Further developments are awaited.
