Goa government is considering a tie-up with Spain for organ transplant mechanism.
A team of doctors headed by Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) dean Dr S M Bandekar, who is also the nodal officer for State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO), has left for Spain, where they would visit Donation and Transplantation Institute (DTI) for a study in deceased organ. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday took to social media to announce plan to have GMC and DTI tie up for organ transplant mechanism. “Spain has assured us of providing all support,” he said. State government is looking at the Centre for help in the process of procuring the latest equipment for the organ transplant. Rane said, “The State will apprise Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan in Delhi of our efforts and seek his support in taking forward the tie up.”
