PONDA: The Goa Dairy members on Friday objected to the audit report for the financial year 2019-20 presented by the administration and demanded a re-audit of Goa Dairy accounts only through the auditors appointed by the members during the annual general meeting.

The Goa Dairy audit report for year 2019-20 shows loss of Rs 6.5 crore. However, the members objected to discuss on this report citing it was not done by the auditors appointed during last year’s AGM.

Finally, the twice postponed Goa Dairy annual general meeting, which was held at Sahakar Bhavan Hall, Curti, here, was chaired by Goa Dairy Chairman Durgesh Shirodkar.

Speaking on the occasion, Shirodkar said, “Re-audit of Goa Dairy will be held according to the resolution passed by the AGM today. The new auditor will be selected by the members during the AGM.”

The members demanded action against the officials for changing auditors and not conducting audit through auditors appointed by AGM and also want the recovery of fees from them for re-audit.

Speaking to the media persons after the meeting, former chairman Rajesh Faldesai and farmer Vikas Prabu said, “The members did not accepted the audit report stating that the audit was not done by the three auditors appointed by the last AGM. The members say the officials of Goa Dairy have no right to change the auditors appointed by Goa Dairy AGM. It was also decided to demote and halt three increments of the officials   responsible for not implementing the decision of AGM with respect to auditors’ appointment and also recover the cost of re-audit from them. Goa Dairy AGM has 176 members and most of them were present.”

Chairman Shirodkar said, “The loss shown in audit report for the year 2019-20 was suffered when in that year the Goa Dairy affairs were managed by Board for some period and also by Administrator.”

He said, “The officials and then managing director failed to appoint the auditors within a month after the last AGM. As the nation was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns during that period the audit was done through another auditor. However, the members have objected to this report.”

“Three members’ committee under my chairmanship was appointed recently and during my tenure past seven months Goa Dairy earned a profit of Rs 2.5 crore. At present, the Goa Dairy milk sale is 59,000 litres per day and the dairy now runs in profit,” he informed.
