Goa Dairy asked to convene meeting of general body

RCS threatens legal action if his order is not complied with

PONDA: The Registrar of Co-operative Societies (RCS) has warned Goa Dairy of taking legal action if it failed to issue notices in three days to convene its general body to place the inquiry report before the same for taking action as directed by RCS vide a letter dated June 11.
The warning has been issued vide a letter dated July 25 addressed to chairman and managing director (MD) of the Curti-based dairy. The warning letter is signed by Prasad Volvoikar, the deputy registrar of co-operative societies.
It is instructive that following complaints of scam in the Dairy by farmers appointed inquiry committee as well as former chairman and a sitting director of Goa Dairy Madhav Sahakari, the RCS had appointed a Chartered Accountant (CA) Yatish Vernekar to conduct an inquiry into affairs of Goa Dairy.
Vernekar submitted his inquiry report to RCS few months ago, wherein he stated that the Goa Dairy was mismanaged and there were irregularities in purchase of raw material and machineries causing loss to the Dairy.
