He said that Baburao failed to convince the government to stop the entry of SUMUL into Goa.
Holding Baburao responsible for recruiting surplus staff and the losses the financial that Goa Dairy incurred, Vithoba said, “Baburao failed to take decisions in the interest of farmers and Goa Dairy.”
“He was acting on his own without consulting the BoD, which forced the directors to bring a no-confidence motion against him in April this year,” Vithoba said adding that the chairman has lost the confidence of the majority.
Vithoba said that though a no-confidence motion was moved in April, it could not be passed since the presiding officer adjourned the meeting citing a Supreme Court judgement that no motion can be brought against the Chairman within two years of him assuming the post.
“The presiding officer did not even read out the judgement before adjourning the BoD meeting on the no-confidence motion. The SC judgment is not applicable in Goa as it has its own Cooperative Act, which has provision to bring no confidence motion on six months’ time,” he said adding, “this allowed Baburao to continue as chairman of Goa Diary. “
“We had approached High Court against this decision on the motion. High Court has fixed next hearing on June 13. The court has directed the chairman to refrain from taking policy decision and handling matters related to financial issues till further directions. The MD has been allowed to carry out routine work,” he said.
“Now with the matter in court, the chairman realized that he is sure to lose the post after court verdict, as such, he is making allegation of corruption against me to divert the attention from his failures,” Vithoba said.
Explaining his rationale for holding Baburao responsible for the entry of SUMUL into Goa, Vithoba said, “SUMUL had made entry into Goa in January, but Baburao had taken four months time to present the opposition of Goa Dairy before Goan customers and farmers. The general body meeting too was held two months late on the issue.”
“We advised him to approach to every village and every farmer to convince them how Goa Dairy is benefitting them. But he did not act on our advice. Due to this, Goa Dairy lost around 1000-1500 litres of milk per day to SUMUL in Sagnuem taluka,” he alleged.
