PONDA: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Goa Dairy was held on Sunday where it was declared that Goa Dairy has made profit of Rs 1.84 crore, compared to losses of Rs 5 crore last year.
It may be recalled that there was strong resentment among members over the loss suffered by Goa Dairy’s cattle-feed plant to the tune of Rs 5 crore for the previous year, following which an inquiry committee was appointed to fix responsibility.
After the inquiry committee pointed out irregularities in Goa Dairy, its management improved a little; and this year Goa Dairy has made a profit of 1.84 crore for financial year 2017-18.
The AGM was chaired by Administrator Damodar Morajkar and Managing Director Raghunath Dhuri. Assistant Registrar at Ponda Pankaj Marathe was also present on the dais.
Addressing the media, Dhuri said that Goa Dairy has made profit of Rs 1.84 crore and the cattle-feed plant losses have come down to Rs 16 lakh this year from Rs 5 crore last year. He said that Goa Dairy made efforts to bridge the losses of Rs 5 crore and managed to bring it down to Rs 16 lakh this year.
However, the chairmen of 177 societies supplying milk to Goa Dairy expressed doubt that the Dairy has earned a profit of Rs 1.84 crore. “When the sale of milk is down in the market, how could Goa Dairy make this much profit?” they questioned.
They demanded to reduce the cattle feed rates as it burden on farmers.
