PONDA: The election for 12-Member BoDs of Goa Dairy, was marred by scams, losses and mismanagement, drew huge response in its voting on Sunday. Out of 167 eligible voters 166 took part in voting.
Total 38 candidates are in fray with tough contest between three panels, where one is led by former Dairy chairman along with two independents.
Out of total 173 milk supplying societies to Goa Dairy, Chairmen of 167 were eligible for voting out of which 166 took part in voting. The farmers and former Dairy Chairmen said cooperation of govt is necessary for the development and progress of Goa Dairy.
The election for BoD was held at Sahakar Bhavan Premises at Curti, Ponda and counting would be held at same place on 20 June.
Goa Dairy would get farmer-appointed Board after three and half years being managed by government appointed Administrators.
Goa Dairy BoD election was last held in 2017 and Goa Dairy Board was looking after affairs of Goa Dairy. However, in and half year of its functioning Registrar of Cooperative (RCS) Societies disqualified seven Board of Directors of Goa Dairy and also disqualified Goa Dairy Board for mismanagement following inquiry report by auditors mentioned mismanagement in purchases of raw material. RCS later appointed Administrator, which was looking after Administration of Goa Dairy for past three and half years.
