Goa Dairy ‘fails to hold’ AGM yet again

PONDA: Goa Dairy milk suppliers, who arrived at Sahakar Bhavan, Curti Ponda on Sunday, were left disappointed as the dairy yet again “failed to hold” the annual general body meeting.

Goa Dairy  chairman Durgesh Shirodkar said, “Some members last time had demanded that the RCS approval is a must for holding the AGM. So we are waiting for its approval. I had not called for the AGM today.  As soon as RCS gives permission, we will immediately declare the date for holding the AGM and inform the members accordingly.”

There was confusion as the milk suppliers who arrived here had high hopes that the AGM would be held today.  Chairmen of 176 milk supplying societies are the members of Goa Dairy AGM.

Jayant Desai, chairman of a milk supplying society from Netravali said, “It is a waste of our time. Some other chairmen were also present but there was no meeting. This is a total failure on the part of the Goa Dairy administration. Earlier, the AGM was scheduled on December 27, but later it was postponed to January 17. The meeting was postponed with the members demanding that the same be rescheduled on January 31 and the administration agreed.

In complaint letter to Goa Dairy’s Administrative Committee, Jayant said “With no communication, we presumed that the meeting will be held today and had come to attend it. However we wasted our time.”
